Real Fundraising Stories

The people we've helped — and the community that made it possible

Riley's Journey to Disneyland

Riley is an incredible young lad who, just over 12 months ago, was diagnosed with cancer — a diagnosis that sadly resulted in the lower half of his leg being amputated. Despite everything he has been through, Riley's spirit, courage and determination have been an inspiration to everyone who has had the privilege of hearing his story.

When Miles For Men heard about Riley and his family, we knew we had to do something special. Working alongside the wonderful people and businesses of Hartlepool, we set about making Riley's dream of visiting Disneyland a reality.

Through the GoFundMe campaign, the Ska Fell Hike, and the incredible generosity of this community, we smashed our target — raising a staggering £15,000, which was handed directly to Riley's family. Every single penny went towards giving this special lad the trip of a lifetime.

Riley's story even caught the attention of the national media, featuring in the Daily Mail Online — and he got to meet Ryan, a moment none of us will ever forget.

None of this would have been possible without the support of every single person who donated, sponsored, climbed, shared, and cheered us on. You are all amazing, and Riley's smile says it all.
